Capabilities

What your AI can do with Postwire.

Search and read

Find messages across connected mailboxes and folders, read individual emails and whole conversations, or get a digest of recent mail.

search_emailsread_emailread_threadinbox_digest

Work with attachments

Extract the text of PDF, Word (.docx) and plain-text attachments so your AI can summarize or compare them. Attachments are processed temporarily, not stored.

Draft replies

Your AI prepares new emails and replies as drafts, with your chosen sending identity. You review the full preview before anything goes out.

Send with approval or Auto-Send

By default every email needs your approval in Postwire. For a mailbox where you turn on Auto-Send, your AI can send directly when you ask. Sending limits, recipient rules and a server-side duplicate check apply to every message.

Organize

Mark messages read or unread, flag them, or move them between folders — only when the connection has the organize permission.

Many mailboxes, one account

Connect several mailboxes from Purelymail, Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud, Fastmail, Zoho or any provider that offers IMAP and SMTP with password or app-password sign-in, and mark any of them read-only. Microsoft 365 and Outlook.com are not supported yet: Microsoft requires its own sign-in for IMAP.

Security and control

You decide what your AI may do.

Permissions are granted per connection on a clear consent screen, and every action is recorded in your usage history.

  • Mailbox passwords are encrypted at rest and never shown again — not to administrators, not to your AI app.
  • Each AI connection is authorized with OAuth and limited to the permissions you approve: read, draft, send, organize.
  • You choose which mailboxes each connection can reach, and can revoke it at any time with immediate effect.
  • Postwire fetches mail live from your provider when asked; it does not keep copies of your inbox.
  • Every account is isolated: other users can never see your mailboxes, drafts or activity.

Compatibility

ChatGPT and Claude, through one standard.

Claude

Add Postwire as a custom connector on claude.ai or Claude Desktop. Custom connectors are available on Claude Free (one connector), Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise; on Team and Enterprise an owner adds it for the organization.

ChatGPT

Add Postwire as a custom connector. OpenAI documents this for ChatGPT Business and Enterprise/Edu workspaces on the web; whether other plans can add custom connectors depends on OpenAI’s current plan settings.

Connector endpoint: https://postwire.verituscore.com/mcp · Step-by-step instructions are in the setup guide.

Questions

Do I have to change email provider?
No. Postwire connects to the mailbox you already have using IMAP and SMTP. Your email stays with your provider.
Does Postwire store my email?
No copies of your inbox are kept. Messages are fetched from your provider when your AI asks for them. Drafts are kept until they are sent or deleted, and the content of sent drafts is erased after seven days. Attachment text is extracted temporarily for the request.
Can my AI send email without me?
Not by default. Each email waits for your approval in Postwire. You can turn on Auto-Send for one mailbox or as your account default for all of them, so your AI sends directly when you ask it to — with hourly, recipient and new-recipient limits — and turn it off again at any time. Your AI can never change this setting itself, and you can switch sending off entirely.
What do I need to connect a mailbox?
Your provider’s IMAP and SMTP settings and, for most providers, an app password. Postwire suggests the settings for common providers and tests the connection before saving.
How do I stop access?
Revoke the AI connection under AI Connections, or remove the mailbox. Access stops immediately.
